The Puppy Passport is where new puppy owners begin. Dog Training Basics is a comprehensive obedience program with an introduction to socialization, offered as either a 5-session or 10-session package. This is the right starting point for most adult dogs who never got proper training, or who picked up a few bad habits along the way. By the end, your dog understands the core commands and responds to them consistently.
Premium All-Around Training covers everything in the basics and then goes further, adding deeper socialization, street safety, pool safety, and some light agility work. Finally, the Advanced Canine Good Citizen program takes your dog all the way to official AKC certification. It builds on every prior skill and culminates in mastery of the ten skills the American Kennel Club requires. I’m a certified CGC evaluator, so I can prepare your dog and conduct the evaluation, giving you a nationally recognized credential that proves your dog is a model canine citizen.
A huge share of the “behavior problems” I’m called about aren’t really training problems at all. They’re energy problems. A dog that doesn’t get enough physical exercise and mental stimulation will find its own outlet, and you usually won’t like what it picks: chewing, digging, barking, or bouncing off the walls when you get home.
When a specific behavior is making life difficult, general obedience isn’t always enough. That’s where my behavior correction work comes in. The issues I’m called for most often in Laguna Niguel are the familiar ones: jumping on guests, counter surfing, excessive barking, leash reactivity toward other dogs, separation anxiety, and resource guarding.
My approach is always case-specific. I take the time to understand what’s actually driving the behavior, because barking out of boredom is a different problem than barking out of fear, and they need different solutions. Then I use positive, reward-based methods to teach your dog what to do instead of the unwanted behavior, which creates change that lasts rather than a dog that’s simply suppressed. Just as importantly, I coach you, because I’m only with your dog for part of the week and you’re with them the rest of the time. The consistency you provide between sessions is what makes the results stick, and I’ll give you the tools and confidence to keep it going.
